Dear fellow Animal Lovers,
We have been getting an influx of calls about sick and/or abused animals.
We are here and ready to help, however to expedite results we need the following when you call:
1. If calling about a sick/poisoned animal
If calling about a sick/poisoned animal please call a vet first. Any vet of your choosing, or if you wish to call one of the vets that we work with, please contact Dr. Charoula at 694 595 6729. ...
The reasons we request this is because often times we are not nearby to just come have a look, or it may be too urgent to waste time before administering treatment, or we may not know what the issue is, etc.
Calling us and telling us the symptoms usually leads to the vet asking us more questions, and since we may not be in front of the animal these are best answered by the person on location. So rather than play phone ping pong, we have found, the most efficient way to be that you call a vet so you may be asked anything pertinent, and then call us with what the vet prescribed.
This way we can acquire any needed items and show up on location ready to act!
We hope to become more efficient with this protocol once we have a vet here and a vehicle for this particular purpose as well as a full stocked pet pharmacy. But until then, this is the way to go.
What to do if you find an animal in need of help.
2. If calling about an abuse/neglect case
If calling about an abuse/neglect case, we are happy to take the necessary legal measures to ensure the animal is either surrendered to us or the situation corrected.
When calling us PLEASE try to gather as much info about the person as possible. Exact location of the animal, and ask around there for the owner's name, place of residence and if possible mobile number. The last is not always available, but with minimal effort, usually a name of the owner and where he lives, who he is related to or where he can be found.
These are the questions the police ask us, so it would make our trip to them most effective and efficient if we had this info.
Don't worry; we don't have to mention your name. We can file complaints, warnings, reports and lawsuits as Mondo Cane. We just need the details as our efforts to investigate the leads provided often create confusion of whether we are in the right place. Thank you!
